KidsWow

The KidsWow Method

Why Wow?

There is nothing quite like watching the spark of joy when a child discovers something new. Thousands of people have experienced the wonder of magnets repelling each other when the magnets are flipped a certain way. Yet the first time a child feels that “invisible, squishy ball” forcing their magnets apart is magical. Always they will say something like “Wow! This is so cool! Why is it doing that?” Kids naturally ask lots of questions and want to learn, particularly during a “Wow Moment”. Warren Okerman, founder of KidsWow, learned to pay attention to those moments and to remember what sparked it.

He found certain activities or demonstrations could consistently create that spark of joy, while others were different for each individual. Some young people gravitate towards music, dance, coding, building make-belief towns, or maybe they're interested in everything at once. A Wow Moment happens through discovering, seeing, feeling, and experiencing something real.

There is another secret ingredient. A Wow Moment can come and go, but if someone—like a teacher, parent, friend, or facilitator—recognizes and mirrors that joy back to the child: the “Wow” becomes contagious and can literally change lives in a single moment. We have seen it happen again and again.

That's why KidsWow is more than just a name.

The KidsWow Method in a Nutshell

Get a Little

Don't overwhelm kids with too much information. Let them focus on what is most important.

Learn What You Get

Don't just lecture, try it, test it, and work to build true understanding.

Use it a Lot

Anything worth learning needs to be done often, repeated, learned until it becomes second nature almost like muscle memory.

Evaluate

The teacher is more of a coach or guide watching for curiosity, questions, and genuine competency so they can know the right time to introduce a new idea and progress to the next level of learning.

This is Learning the Natural Way.

The Natural Learning Method Promotes:

  • internal motivation
  • problem solving
  • creative thinking
  • long-term retention
  • curiosity

Why KidsWow Method?

A child exploring magnets during a KidsWow learning session

Kids like to learn until it becomes too scary, too risky, or too boring. Every person will experience criticism and fear. For some, this happens early and often. For others, not so much. Also, some kids have a ton of energy and can barely sit still. Some kids are loud. Some are quiet. There are kids that are artistic, or like sports, or like science, and some kids like all of these subjects and more.

KidsWow is built for kids like this. It is not just a program, but a method, a style of learning, and an environment where children of all ages can know that they are safe to try and explore new things. Learning becomes fun again, and difficult subjects become understandable.

Imagine what we could learn using a natural learning process.
